Jessica Alger-Shook LCMHCA, NCC, CTP

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP). I graduated from Wake Forest University with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and prior to that graduated from UNC Greensboro with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults using an eclectic approach that combines elements from person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavioral therapy. I know that every client is different and I cater my therapeutic approach to what will best suit their needs. I like working with clients to help them cope with stressors in healthy ways and develop therapeutic skills to succeed in different areas of their lives. I have experience working with clients who are going through issues such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, conflictual relationships, and LGBTQIA+ identity concerns.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, walking my dogs, reading, and watching way too much reality TV.
